Oinomikado Tsunemitu (大炊御門経光)

Tsunemitsu OINOMIKADO (September 15, 1638 - October 4, 1704) was a Kugyo (high court noble) who lived in the early Edo period. He mainly served Emperor Gokomyo (the 110th), Emperor Gosai (the 111th), Emperor Reigen (the 112th) and Emperor Higashiyama (the 113th), and was raised to Juichii Sadaijin (Junior First Rank Minister of the Left) in the end. His father was a Juichii Sadaijin (Junior First Rank Minister of the Left) named Tsunetaka OINOMIKADO. His mother was an Ie no Nyobo (a lady-in-waiting or concubine). His lawful wife ('seishitsu' in Japanese) was a daughter of Tatsutaka HOSOKAWA. Yoshitatsu NAITO (adopted by Yoshiyasu or Yoshitaka or Yoshiyuki NAITO), a daughter (Takanaga WASHINO-O's wife) and an adopted son named Nobuna OINOMIKADO (the second son of Motohiro KONOE) were his children.

In 1645 he was conferred a peerage. He promoted successively thereafter, and was raised to Jusanmi (Junior Third Rank) in 1659, thereby becoming a Kugyo (high court noble). In 1660 he became a Chunagon (Middle Counselor). In 1663 he became a Shosanmi Dainagon (Senior Third Rank Major Counselor) and Jingu Tenso (shrine messenger to the emperor). In 1664 he became a Toka no sechie Geben (a Kugyo who supervised the event of toka [ceremonial mass singing and stomp dancing] called Toka no sechie held at the Imperial Court on around the fifteenth day of the first month of the year, outside the Shomeimon gate of the Kyoto imperial palace). He became Ukon e no daisho (Major Captain of the Right Division of Inner Palace Guards) in 1675 and remained in the position until 1678. He became Daidaijin (Minister of the Right) in 1677, and remained in the position until 1681. In 1680 he became a Toka no sechie Naiben (a Kugyo who supervised the event of toka [ceremonial mass singing and stomp dancing] called Toka no sechie held at the Imperial Court on around the fifteenth day of the first month of the year, inside the Shomeimon Gate of the Kyoto Imperial Palace). In 1690he was appointed Naidaijin (Minister of the Right), but resigned in the following year. In 1692 he was raised to Juichii (Junior First Rank). In 1704 he became Sadaijin (Minister of the Left), but resigned shortly thereafter.
